System of a Down (SOAD) are an Alternative Metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band formed in 1995 with all four members having Armenian ancestry. They are well known for their outspoken social views expressed in their songs. The band actively participate in the group Axis of Justice formed by Serj Tankian (Lead singer) and Tom Morello of Audioslave. They are also in full support of establishing official Turkish and worldwide recognition of the Armenian genocide executed by the Turkish Army in 1915.
