Glinka, Mikhail Ivanovich Composers Composition Music


Russian Romantic composer Mikhail Glinka (1804 - 1857) is considered the founder of that nation's nationalist music movement. He had considerable influence on Balakirev, who founded The Five, and his opera A Life for the Tsar was the first to delve deeply into Russia's folk music.
