Tucker, Sophie Artists Famous Nutmeggers Society and Culture
Born Sophia Kalish in Russia in 1884, Sophie Tucker moved to Connecticut with her family, working in their restaurant, until she became a pianist, Vaudeville actress and vocalist. She died in 1966 and is buried in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
