Corktown Neighborhoods Detroit Localities

The Corktown Historical District of Detroit has been the initial destination of a succession of immigrants from the 1830s to present day. Although initially populated by Irish immigrants and still associated with the Irish today, Corktown has hosted waves of other immigrants most notably Maltese in the early 1900s and Latinos in the 1920s. Currently it is considered to be one of the most stable and racially integrated neighborhoods in Detroit. Corktown is located south of Michigan Avenue and west of the John C. Lodge Expressway (M-10).
