Lord Swaminarayan was born on 2nd April 1781. At the age of about eleven he left home to travel through the forests doing penance and granting souls salvation irrespective of their sins, caste or creed. Swaminarayan Bhagwan, his own name given by himself to his devotees, nourished a group of completely devoted saints and devotees that changed the world around them and instilled a sense of devotion and right conduct in the society.
